William’s musical roots run deep. He started playing the mandolin at just 5 years old, growing up with a love for traditional sounds and a drive to create his own music. By the time he was 12, he was booking gigs and already writing his own songs. By age 15, he was leading a band that would soon become a mainstay on the Midwest music scene.

Now, William has evolved into a seasoned front-man, blending his love for country, bluegrass, gospel, Americana, folk, and Southern rock into a sound that’s uniquely his. The band has spent the last few years honing their craft and building a loyal fan-base, bringing high-energy performances, rich harmonies, and relatable storytelling to venues across the Midwest and beyond. Their live shows are a mix of heartfelt ballads and foot-stomping anthems, creating a powerful connection with audiences of all ages!

The William Lawson Band began in 2023 with his sister, Addie Lawson, and previous members Bob Black, who played as a Bluegrass Boy with Bill Monroe (1974-1976), and his lovely wife Kristie Black was also in the band during that time. They left the band at the end of the 2025 touring season. It was at that time that seasoned musicians Johnny Butten and Vanessa Kenaston joined the band. 

As William looks to the future, he’s more determined than ever to turn his passion for music into a lifelong career. The band is already on track to make a lasting impact, with plans for more touring and recording on the horizon. With a blend of raw talent, dedication, and a deep connection to the roots of American music, the William Lawson Band is poised for an exciting journey ahead.
